Programs and Projects - Volunteer Program
Springtide Resources recognizes the important contributions and opportunities volunteers bring to our work. Volunteers work collaboratively with our staff and Board to meet the program priorities of Springtide Resources.
Volunteers can contribute to our work in a variety of ways including:
- Board of Directors membership
- Peer education working with Disabilities and Deaf Women’s Program; Immigrant and Refugee Women’s Program; or the Young Women’s Program
- Trainers
- Program or project support
- Student placement
- Office support
- Publications and resource support

Student Placement Opportunities:
Springtide Resources accepts application from students looking for placements as part of their curriculum. Past students have come from George Brown College's Assaulted Women's and Children's Counsellor/Advocate program (AWCCA), Ryerson University, and University of Toronto.
While the focus of the student placement role will be working with the Immigrant & Refugee Women Connecting for Change Program, a range of opportunities will be provided to ensure a meaningful practicum experience.
1. Immigrant and Refugee Women Connecting for Change Program
Peer Trainer Component
· Participate in outreach activities.
· Attend community workshops, providing support and debriefing to Peer Trainers.
· Co-facilitate monthly Peer Trainer meetings.
Volunteer Training
· Assist in facilitation and organizations of trainings for IRWCCP volunteers
Community Partnerships and Collaborations
· Organize meetings with agencies throughout the city to learn about their services (i.e. VAW), the communities they support, the languages they serve, etc
· Participate in various community partnerships and collaborations such as: Support Services/Cultural Issues Committee, No One is Illegal ‘Shelter, Sanctuary, Status’ and ‘Education Not Deportation’ campaigns, and a range of other time-limited projects.
· Assist in developing new program and agency partnerships.
2. Women with Disabilities and Deaf Women Program
Peer Trainers Component
· Attend community workshops, providing support and debriefing to Peer Trainers.
· Attend bi-monthly Peer Trainer meetings as required.
Service Provider Training
· Work with Education and Outreach Mentor to explore and engage in outreach activities.
· Observe service provider trainings on issues related to Disability, Violence and Accommodation
Community Partnerships and Collaborations
· Assist in developing new program and agency partnerships as it relates to the WWD/DW Program.
3. Young Women's Program
(During summer months only, if student is 25 years of age or younger)
· Assist in outreach of Program’s activities
· Co-facilitate workshop with Youth Leader.
4. General Office Work as required
